GREENWOOD furniture embodies the design perception, handcraftsmanship, and time-honored building techniques inherited from Old World craftsmen.
The Work of Brad Greenwood

Although the artisan works in a barn on his property up in the mountains of Northern California, don’t expect to find your average rustic furniture.  Brad creates some of the most exquisite (yet unpretentious) fine furniture available today with an emphasis for natural design.

The artisan is noted for his praiseworthy ability to “enliven once more” the woods he uses.  Interesting grain patterns, shapes and colors that are often neglected or unused are brought to life by the artist’s skillful touch.   Brad typically prefers to be ecologically-minded by choosing native California hard wood trees that have been storm-downed or considered hazardous.  Many of the walnut trees he acquires are those that have stopped producing nuts.  Brad selects all of his woods himself – in fact, he actually cuts many of the trees he chooses and air dries and then kiln dries the wood himself.

"The passage of time can be seen in the grain patterns and natural form of a tree,” notes the artist.  Desiring to nurture these aspects, the artisan concentrates on working with wood that has been “slab” cut.  Brad Greenwood’s insight results in the creation of furnishings with a timeless design concept and truly natural appeal.

His laborious detail work, such as intricate hand-tooled surfaces, skillfully cut inlay work, and striking combinations of hard woods are all characteristics of this artisan’s dedication to honor the traditional virtues of old-school woodworking skills.
